Financial Services partner Neil Robson was quoted in HFMWeek on the possible implications that the upcoming UK general election may have for hedge funds. Neil was participating in a roundtable discussion with industry professionals hosted by the publication. In relation to whether hedge fund managers will remain in the United Kingdom if the Labour party wins the election, Neil said that a couple of hedge fund management groups have moved their Alternative Investment Fund Managers offshore to Jersey, but he is not seeing a huge demand at the current time. Since the hedge fund sector in the United Kingdom is fragmented, it has been a challenge for the entities involved to create a cohesive UK lobbying position. Also contributing to the challenges the sector faces is that "the electorate does not understand what hedge funds do," Neil added.
