Lance Zinman, Global Co-chair of Katten's Financial Services practice, was quoted in the Financial Times regarding the upcoming changes to access for European exchanges by US high-frequency trading firms under Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II). MiFID II is set to be implemented in early January 2018, meaning that US companies would have to file applications with EU regulators by June. Lance stated, "Companies need to stick to the timeline." Regarding the estimated 15 to 20 US companies that have yet to decide on whether or not to register for exchange access in London or through another EU city, he added, "They need to sort it out in the next four weeks."
