CHICAGO – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Alvin Katz has joined the firm as a Chicago-based partner in its Real Estate Practice. Mr. Katz, who has more than 30 years of real estate legal experience, arrives at Katten following 20 years as a partner in the Chicago office of Mayer Brown LLP.

Mr. Katz has a diverse practice, representing real estate investors and developers in joint ventures and partnerships, as well as clients in acquisitions and dispositions of real property, debt and equity financings, and management and leasing transactions. He is consistently ranked among the top real estate lawyers in Chicago and is nationally recognized as a leader in his field. The 2010 edition of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business noted that Mr. Katz is “respected for his knowledge, understanding and efficiency,” and a client reference described him as “a really good lawyer with great business sense.” Legal 500 calls him “an absolutely first-class lawyer,” quoting clients who describe him as “outstanding … as good as it gets.” His long-term success has earned him membership in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.

His clients include opportunity funds, investment advisors, public and private pension funds and real estate investment trusts (REITs). He is a frequent speaker on real estate topics at industry conferences.

Mr. Katz earned his undergraduate degree with high distinction and honors from the University of Michigan, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School.
